The Malthouse Club was set up to consider whether there was a demand in the village for community activity that was not being met. At the first meeting earlier this year a good turn out of Lorton people gave views on varying types of events. The aim is that the club will be a loose arrangement that a variety of people may like to take part in. It would be based on, but not exclusively, using Yew Tree Hall.
So far two public information events have taken place, regarding Frauds and Scams, and First Aid/First responders.
A first meeting of a Story telling group has met to hear tales of Village life, short stories of fiction and engaging people in very short impromptu writing
An Exercise class meets every Wednesday, and a first “day out” to Cartmel Races on Bank Holiday gave a coachload of locals a sunny afternoon of food, drink and horses.
